Learn How to Use Optimal Resume! THE UNIVERSITY OF MAINE CAREER CENTER www.umaine.edu/career ________________________________________________________________ GETTING STARTED! *Go to the University of Maine Career Center website, www.umaine.edu/career. *On the Career Center Home page click on the link for Optimal Resume. * If you have not registered for this service you will need to do so before you can log in. *Click on the new user button under the log in section of the page. *Enter your full UMaine e-mail address (first.last@umit.maine.edu) and then click continue. *The program will email you a user name and password shortly after you submit your email address (Please note that it will be sent to you at your umit address). *Once you receive your user name and password log in and create your user profile. You should change your password to something that you will remember for future use of this program. CREATING A RESUME *You are able to store resumes on this program two ways. You may choose to upload your resume or create a resume with resume builder. UPLOADING AN EXISTING RESUME FILE *If you wish to upload your resume click on new resume. Then click on upload existing resume. When you have found the file, click ok. *Your existing resume will be uploaded onto the system. *Please note you will not be able to use optimal resume to edit your existing resumes or connect them to the website links. CREATING A NEW RESUME *Click on the New Resume button. *Next click Create New Resume. *Enter resume name. This is what your resume will be saved under. Click ok. *Read instructions carefully, then click on the continue button. *Enter your contact information. Note: This will be the contact information that shows up on your resume. Make sure that you have a professional email address to enter on your resume employers' notice how you present yourself. *Define your sections. This is where you will determine what your resume categories are going to be. -Need an example? Click on the select section sets button to get a variety of sample categories that you can chose from.
